Finally back home.....

....so she sat in the impound lot for a month, it killed me, and affected me like putting your dog in a kennel. In the meantime, I became a e-bay toy winner! I did have a few buyers take a look, but I think I subconsciously talked them out of it by showing them the fuse box :) Welcome home! I promise not to do that again. Sorry.

She is at the Impound :(

Well, Import Auto owner called and told me the mechanic really did not want to work on it, as he stated it would take two months, and about 10k to fix. I called Ward back, and he picked it back up, and had taken it to his impound yard. I seen it today on September 9, 2010, and what a sad feeling to think my classic car is going to sit there and rot. The car is back on Craig's List for $2500.00

STP Stop Leak did not work :(

Well the STP Stop Leak was a last ditch effort, but it did not work, as I was still bellowing black smoke at acceleration. As you can see in the picture, my buddy Ward who owns a wrecker service was nice enough to come to the house to take her back to Import Car Service for a full head-gasket inspection, hoping it can be salvaged by sleeving or replacing.

Craig's List not working out

I have posted my 1978 on Craig's List twice now, and everytime I get swarmed with e-mails, and telephone calls, I am reminded how awesome my car is! The car is no longer listed, and has not been for almost twenty days now. WTF?! LOL. "Maybe she is just part of the family?"

Lawn Ornament

After giving the owner, Don at Superior Goodyear $120.21 dollars for a compression test, he verified cylinder #6 is shot. No further information. However, advice from my fellows owners: http://landsharkoz I have been advised, if I need a new head gasket, or the valve is burnt, the motor could be repaired. If it is a seized piston, or ring problems, it is better to replace. However, it more in likely a head gasket, as it is probably the original. Nevertheless, any repairs means the engine needs removed. Standard Labor: $100.00 and hour, and examination is a minimum of three hours. Parts: 'expensive,' replacement, and more labor to reinstall, etc. I am "officially" over my head. The 928 is currently a lawn ornament, and on Craig's List. :(

The car is listed on Craigs List for $2500.00 obo

Oil Leak

This is the preliminary inspection of an oil leak at Superior Auto & Good Year Tires on US19/Little Rd. The owner, Don is going to tackle the job of fixing the oil leak. I can visibly see oil sitting in the valley, which in result is blowing back into my air filter, and exiting excessive smoke out of the exhaust pipes. The thick oil sitting throughout the filter is not allowing the engine to breath so now we are stalling at idle while stopped at the traffic light. I am dropping her off tommorow morning. The clean up and assessment will be the first task. Stay tuned, hopefully she is not beyond financial repair.

Preserving the Interior

How to preserve your interior:
Limo tint on the back trunk window lid, and rear-side corner windows. 15% on driver's, passenger-side windows, and windshield.
Total cash price. $130.00. Preserving a 32 year old dashboard, and leather interior. Priceless.

Oil Paranoia

One of the first lessons I was told from an experienced mechanic, Jesse was from an example. I was shown another Porsche 928, which was sitting in front of Import Auto. The mechanic said the car is ready to go, but the owner has to come up with the money to pick it up. The mechanic asks me a question in disbelief. Do you believe the owner had blown the cams? Well I looked at him like, no? However, I was desperately wondering how could did he do that? The mechanic said to me; Ron, do not ever let your engine just run out of oil. So I had an oil paranoia since day one, as I did not want my 928 sitting at the shop with a couple thousand dollars worth of repairs, knowing I could never pick it up. In result, this began my journey of force feeding my 928 oil on a regular basis, as it seems the V-8 will just drink and drink. Well over the weekend, I discovered what happens when you overfill too much oil. The oil overflowed into my exhaust, and I was sporting this nice black cloud directly out of my tailpipe, which in result had blown oil all over the rear-end of my car, and I could not even begin to explain the exterior clean up. Right now I have a beautiful coat of oil ever where on the undercarriage, as I know this vehicle will never rust, and may be even found thousands of years from now in a perfect non-corrosion state. Needless to say, I am over the oil paranoia, and will not put another drop of oil in her, unless the dipstick tells me too, period. My friend Dave from D&D Auto told me the oil can be cleaned up by a product called 'Grease Lighting,' sold at Sam's, so picked up a bottle thinking I am going to do a through cleaning, until I get a message from my mentor, as follows:

Well, be careful about putting water in the block valley -- i will run out and straight down into the opening where the clutch arm protrudes from the upper bellhousing, and into your clutch. I don't remember if AT cars have the opening(or whether you have MT/AT) but even on an AT car you probably don't want water in that area as it can get into the starter. For the stuff under the intake I'd say just get some 1/8" welding rod and bend a small loop in the end, stuff a rag through the loop and use that to mop up anything in the valley. Intensive cleaning down there is just about impossible with the intake in place.

Mail 4 me - April 19, 2010

I was excited to get my brand new right front, turn signal lens in the mail. ($26.00 + postage) Thanks to: http://www.928intl.com/
I finally replaced the one I cracked. Too easy.
Also, gave her another quart of oil. A total of (3) quarts this week, so I am thinking she began with (9) quarts to fill up last January, so burning/leaking an average of a quart a month.

Dumb Move of the day

While vacuuming the right-rear passenger floorboard, I pull on the vacuum hose, and the vacuum rolls right into the right front turn signal lens and breaks it! AHHHH!! That mistake is going to cost me.!http://www.mailordercentral.com/928intl/prodinfo.asp?number=U928%20631%20930%2000 So far, maybe only $12.00 plus shipping for a used one.
Also, wondering why she does she drinks so much oil?

Georgia Lunch

Man, it was nice to get out of the congestive traffic, play my favorite tribute song, and just drive! The new front tires and alignment definitely made a difference. What a smoooooooooth ride. "Porsche. There is no substitute." http://popup.lala.com/popup/432627047858615528

(2) New Front Tires, Alignment, Ball Joints tighten

Phillip is a genius. Starke Auto & Tire in Starke, Florida. There is allot to say about vehicle maintenance in a small town. #1 They want and need your business. #2 They take care of local folk. #3 Usually the only man in town who does the work. In result, customers are treated well, and wants you to come back. My initial alignment problem, coupled with a loose ball joint, caused both front tires to wear on the inside to slick tread, and today was the end of it's venture. (2) New Front Tires: 215/55/1g, w/Balance $159.90, Alignment $49.95; Tire Disposal $3.00, Florida Impact Fee? $2.00, Tax $11.54; Total cost: $214.85. Just because the Chevy/Ford town in North Florida called the car: quote a "UFO." He charged no labor fees, and fixed the driver's-side door handle, a loose interior door panel, and cleaned the carburetor FREE :) Nevertheless, no matter how great the deal, Mom will not be happy..........

New Paint Job & Body Collision Work

Nice a$$! The picture (top) is before the work, and the picture (below) is her presently parked at the motel during Army drill. Anyway, I picked up 'Cheryl' on Friday, March 12, 2010. Someone, who I am terribly indebted to, had cleaned up a huge paint chip on the left rear, and re-painted the entire rear-end; in addition, touched up a few scratches throughout. Also placed some adhesive on my driver door handle, so it would not fall off. "Looks sweet!" I have military drill for the week, and using her as a 'daily driver,' and will probably log another 1000 miles. :) Of course, she is getting lots of attention from fellow soldiers; however, also lots of daily abuse by transporting supplies, and military equipment. My rear-hatch interior leather moldings on the sides are now falling, and will think of a logical way to put them back up. I am thinking a spray adhesive glue, however there are wires running along the sides of the rear window, so I do not want to permanently affix it. I am thinking maybe Velcro or double-sided tape of some sort. Stay tuned...........another garage day.

Techron Toast - Enjoying a day off together

"Techron" Techron is a patented additive developed by Chevron, consisting of a family of compounds known as polyether aminess. Techron reduces accumulation of deposits in fuel injectors and on intake valves, and minimizes build-up of deposits in the combustion chamber. With the introduction of Techron, Chevron gasoline became designated as meeting TOP TIER standards for fuel cleanliness. Techron is also available as a packaged concentrate, for use with lower quality gasoline ("under-additized"). Both Volvo and Mercedes-Benz have issued factory service bulletins advising the use of concentrated Chevron Techron in repair procedures for vehicles with certain mechanical problems. Of course, reading many posts of Rennlist '928 Forum: http://forums.rennlist.com/ many owners had positive chat-posts and experiences, helping them with rough idles, and at times with no starts. My personal experience was I believe the additive stopped my 928 from 'shaking,' while at low speed, and low rpm's. When I initially emptied the entire bottle in the tank, and started it up for the first time; a dark cloud of 'brown colored' smoke came out of the tailpipe, and I believe I flushed out allot of old carbon. I then drove at high RPM's for 180+ miles, at high speeds. I refilled twice, once at Chevron, and another at Shell. I could only imagine the old grime, which could be in the fuel injection system and tank from a thirty-two year old car. I really thought I would be traveling with brown smoke for awhile; however, only noticed it on the initial start up. Maybe the traffic behind me witnessed more? LOL. I was hesitant at first as my 1978 Owners Manual states on page 51 in bold letters:

Porsche recommends not to use any fuel additives. Oh well, like I listen anyway most of time. However during my rennlist experiences, and as an Internet 928 mechanic. Sometimes I read another owners post, and try to prevent or clean, or whatever. I have come to the conclusion every 928 is different, and each one has their own individual temperamental issues. What is good for one 928 is not good for all......

Reeves Porsche Tampa Feb 9, 2010

A free 28-point inspection until the 28th? Why not? I call and make an appointment. The service manager says 7:30 am. I arrive at 8 am, due to daily commuter traffic in Tampa on I-275. What was I thinking? The overall experience was pretty impressive. I was greeted with friendly salesman, and service. Most important, free fresh gourmet coffee! While I was waiting, I spent most of the time like a kid at Toys-R-Us, and got to droll, and play in the 2010' Boxster, Cayman S 911 series' cars, and the new Cayenne. Of course, I grabbed all the sales material I could get my hands on to read and effortlessly study and learn later, and the accessories for sale; well, they got me for a $17.00 t-shirt. To think I drove in a 32 year old car, older than most of the 'certified mechanics;' however, one of the old timers had remembered distinctively "Hey, that's Tony Montana's 'Scarface" car! My old dream car." When I peeked through the "Employee's Only" window, all the mechanics were conducting/learning the inspection, so I know it was completed, as they were gathered throughout the vehicle. What was most impressive, as she actually passed; ie..headlamp alignment, CV Drive axle boots, exhaust system, steering linkage, and of course, knew the tranny, and fluids were good due to prior service. I am concerned both front upper ball joint boots were documented as torn, as all the struts are original, so I must investigate.

Battery Test - Feb 6, 2010

Yesterday, while she was in idle, after a two (2) day cold start, I noticed the motor was whinding as the idle was fluxuating, and the headlamps were dimming and brightening. My first thought was the battery was old, and maybe a cell had died or something, or the alternator was bad, and the battery was taking too much of the load. I disconnected the battery, and had taken it to Advanced Auto Parts to confirm the battery was better than good! "12.74V" I also purchased (2) anti-corrosion washers (98 cents) * Side note: Well, while I was there, I picked up a bottle of 'Techron, ' a fuel system cleaner for $7.99, ...another posting later. Anyway, I returned home, and put the terminals back on. I also know disconnecting the battery is always a good thing with electronic gremlins, knowing the electrical system will 'reset' itself. I also asked the wife to press on the gas pedal, as I checked the cable on the idle control. While looking under the hood, it seemed to be moving alright, however noticed it was a brown rusty color on the old parts. I sprayed WD-40 on it (fix-all), and (wa-la), problem fixed. I think the car was looking for idle, and it was stuck? Who knows? Anyway, I think she was just mad at me for sitting for a few days with no attention. This weekend, she is getting another 300+ mile road trip with Techron in the gas tank, so I am planning on blowing out some thirty-year old carbon out of the pipes. :)

Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services Feb 1, 2010

Today was a slight rain, but it did not matter. For the past few days, I have read several articles about types of coolants, and over-heating issues on https://www.928gt.com/ This has been pressing on my mind for the past few days. One important lesson I learned in the military is PMCS, (Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services) which is designed to ensure your military vehicle is combat effective, and to ensure your mobility is not compromised during a mission. After reading several posts at rennlist, and research from other 928 owner pages on this issue, I have made two 'concrete' conclusions:

#1 The motor is aluminum, and a recommended brand is: Zerex G-05® Antifreeze with low-silicate, low-pH, and phosphate-free formula.

#2 My high maintenance 'priss' prefers: "distilled water." Of course on my previous Publix trip, I had to get a Crystal bottle for $1.09, so I completed a top off this morning.

I guess, I will spend some time with my wife now :)

Wife is coming around? Jan 28, 2010

Ok, so I have the 928 for just over a month. All I hear is about the expense, and how it is, what she calls it the "POS." . I am thinking maybe a little jealousy, as the 928 'she' has been getting more attention than her lately. So today, Thanks to my Mom, she comes over to baby sit, and sends us out to lunch on her. :) Awesome. We begin to leave, and I ask if we can take MY car? I finally convince her to get in, and ride in it. Anyway, after a nice lunch, just the two of us at the Cracker Barrel, (* side note - beat her on the big checker board out front too :) and on the way home, she could not help but notice the power, "an engine on a pie-plate I call it," ...guess what she asks me??? May I drive it the rest of the way home? Well, of course, I let her. Now hopefully she is getting soft, and is also becoming a true believer; Porsche' There is no substitute!

Nice day with 2nd wife Jan 25, 2010

# 1

# 2

Today was spent in the garage with my second wife, 'Cheryl-928' conducting electrical clean up, and the beginning of my pre-maintenance. During this week's research at: http://forums.rennlist.com/ which is my new 'hobby' link, I have read most 928 problems are electrical, as you can imagine the components and wiring are 30 + plus years old. I began the journey with a trip to Auto-Zone, carrying our newborn in a car seat, browsing the isles. I purchased a can of CRC QD Electronic Cleaner, returned home, and went to work; well, after a diaper change, feeding etc.. :) I cleaned the battery area, all cables, terminals, ground wires for the speedometer and odometer, and pretty much took a tooth brush, fine sandpaper, or a wire brush to every piece of corroding connection, and bolt I could locate. Of course, I could not find all the ground points as instructed. Of course, posted my lack of abilities, and knowledge on the group for help. One important item, I cleaned was the interior light dimmer switch (photo# 2), which I removed from underneath the dash, and cleaned every fuse and relay in my 1978 'Retro' Fuse box. (photo# 1). I noticed one fuse was previously burnt and removed, and another relay was missing. I will go back in once I find out where the other ground points are. Nothing much else to report except I received my license plate today, and now "official." :) Of course, the bolts to place the plate on had to be metric, to go through the 'assigned' threads on the plate holder, so had to 'wing it.'

Another Wash & Wax day Jan 20, 2010

My neighbor next door to my right is a professional photographer. I just happened to see him outside and asked him to take a few shots for me :)

All (4) wheels balanced

All four wheels balanced for only $28.00. Each individual wheel is put on a digital diagnostic, rotating machine, and the mechanic then adds the wheel weights, which are attached by double-sided tape, and are placed on the inside of all the wheel wells. It is important to know, every time she is worked on, I am right there learning. I am not in the 'waiting room,' reading a magazine. I am learning about my car, and actually becoming an auto-mechanic enthusiast. Hey, there may be life after retirement. A Porsche mechanic? The vehicle runs alot smoother at high speed. *Note: was shown by the mechanic, while the wheel was spinning, my left-rear rim is slightly bent. 'Probably a woman driver who previously struck a curb.' Recommended an alignment with a 'Hunter' machine, as both front tires are wearing on the inside. I understand, and have studied this is common on the 928. The vehicle drives straight, and does not pull either way, just the tread is wearing on the insides. Must prioritize! Must be my next project. I was thinking of getting some missing paint chips cleaned up, and actually got an estimate from a friend at $250.00 for the front, and $250.00 for the back, but this will have to wait.... A simple rule: "Mechanical before Beautification."

300 plus mile trip January 22, 2010

I realize the 928 was made for driving. It is produced for Germany, and Europe Autoban travel. How fast is this car? Well, it is as fast, (as hard as you can grind your teeth and bear the speed). It is amazing to me this vehicle is on the road that can double the Interstate speed limit. I am very thankful, my father did not co-sign for me when I was a young teenager. I showed him a 1986 924 model. I did have decent grades, I did have a good job, and just wanted him to co-sign for me. That's it! Needless to say, he did come with me and looked at the car, he did talk with the salesman; however, decided against it. I was angry he did not do it. However at the present time, I am very thankful he did not, as I probably would of wrapped myself around a telephone pole; as teenagers are invincible, lack driving experience, subject to peer pressure, and probably would of hurt myself showing off to some girl, or friends... Anyway, I enjoy all the looks, and all the people who point at the car as I am going down the road. I recently made a trip on I-75, totaling 300 plus miles. I noticed the car drives alot better once it is warmed up. The motor was warm, as I felt it on my legs, however it was not 'hot,' the temp gauge was perfect. Since being a Porsche fanatic for thirty-plus years, I have read every article I could get my hands on of Porsche automobiles. I once read, while traveling on the autoban, Porsche' has the right of way. Motorists give a "courtesy" flash with the headlamps, or turn on the left turn signal to friendly inform the driver ahead, to please yield to the right. It is not what you think, like an aggressive driver flash, just one quick flash. I never pass to the right, or never-ever drive in-between cars. I always stay in the fast/left lane and just cruise. You should of seen the look of a driver of a new Dodge Charger when receiving a courtesy flash. :0 I am sure he was not used to it....................there really is no substitute!

1978 Porsche 928 Facts:

1978 928 VIN Range - 9288200001 - 1139. The base purchase price for the 928 in 1978 was: MSRP: $28,500. Wins 'Car of the Year' in Europe. There were only 1,139 ever produced for US and Canada, and a total production of only 3860, for the entire rest of the world. Is this car a 'classic, a moment in time?' Yes!

'The 1st two weeks of January 2010'

Do I need to say more? Porsche. There is no substitute...........

Import Car Service January 13,2010

Well, it was time to drive the Porsche to 'Import Car Service,' and meet with the owner. "Hey another 928!" A perfect place to go! Ok, I was honest and up front, and told him the vehicle did not have a "Maintenance History," and was starting from scratch. I came in requesting an oil change, and transmission fluid change, and did mention the gear shifter had too much play. Do you think you can just pick up -Mobil 1- synthetic oil and put that in? No..., it must have 20/50, and 'she' sucked up (9) quarts @ $54.00. An oil filter, for a 1978 Porsche, which had to be ordered from WorldPac $18.57. What? needs a new drain plug? $18.10. My shift-coupler I needed, was ordered for $88.60, which will be delivered in a few days, which means I will be back. New gear oil $60.00, as she sucked up 6 quarts of 75/90. A new sealer $6.00/plus $4.80 fitting. Not bad. Total $250.07. I really thought it would be much more! Oh, did I forget labor? Oh Yeah...$70.00. Since I was coming back in a few days, I told the owner to add the additional $70.00 labor. Total visits: (2) @ grand total $417.37. Yes, I am in the dog house........
The shop owner recommended new shocks, and a new power steering hose.

Washing Waxing December 31, 2009 'My Birthday'

This was my afternoon on my 42nd birthday. Taking off all the dirt and grime... :) What a great day. However while taking her on short drives, I noticed she needed a little work as the gear shift was loose; in addition, the mechanic at the sales office was honest, and told me I needed a new coupler. Needless to say, after a huge expense, the last thing I needed to do is tell the wife I needed work on it. I fiqured I would let the tornado pass for awhile before driving it to Import Car Service, which was recommended to me by my mechanic.

"Porsche-For Sale" December 28, 2009

This is what I seen the night of December 21, 2009. I purchased the car for total amount of $3,000.00; of course after administative expenses, and Florida sales tax, the total price gave it a grand total of $3,418.65. I signed the paperwork on December 28, 2009, and drove it home, and finally got a good night's sleep. I did not 'play' with the car until December 31, 2009, and spent my 42nd birthday washing and waxing! :) Pics to follow.......

"Breathless" December 21, 2009

Today, January 11, 2010 at 2 am., is the beginning of my blog. This has come about because I have been home from work on vacation for eleven days in a row. I need to find something constructive to do. This is it. First of all, this blog will probably not last, or I will have entries with several days or months in between. Once I return to work, as I am a very busy person, this blog will probably diminish. I am going to utilize this blog as my 'vehicle maintenance log', so eventually I can re-read it, or have an eyewitness of how I made a huge mistake, and it is now time to sale my dream car, as the hassle may not be worth the reward. However, this is my story I want to share. Maybe this confession will bring me to psycho treatment, or evaluation but this entry is true so here it goes. I cannot remember the exact date, however my partner did not go into work that night, as he was having Christmas dinner with his family that particular evening. I remember I came into work very, very tired, and it is always "my" rule, if I am not at my 100% 'A-game', then I am not going to engage in the fight for the evening, and just stay low profile; as in my profession - you must stay alert to stay alive. Anyway, lets get to the story. Since my shift was going to consist of killing time, I was practicing an old technique I learned as a city policemen, called the 'business check', and although it is something I was taught in the early 1990's, it is a subconscious task I still do every night. OK, back to the story...I was traveling westbound on SR 52, and happened to look to my right, and seen a shiny Porsche 928, (red in color) facing the roadway, apparently 'For Sale,' as it was displayed at a used car lot. I asked myself, was that a Porsche 928? I had to make a U-turn and investigate. First, just a quick background. I graduated from high school in 1985, so I know what a 928 is. I have always been a Porsche fanatic, and always remember Tom Cruise in 'Risky Business,' when he stole his dad's 928, and later was chased by Quido, the killer pimp, with the famous Rebecca Demornay in the passenger seat. Tom Cruise did get away, slammed on his brakes, looked at the movie screen, directly at me, and said, still forever etched in my brain......"Porsche, There is no substitute." I think every teenage boy has his dream car, and guess what? Mine was 'For Sale' at a local Hudson Car lot called "Golden Oldies." This 928 was not at the Porsche dealership, not at some Exotic Sports Car Sales lot, like Lokey Motors atttached with a heavy sticker price, this car was suspiciously sitting here, and to think about it, it was out of place, and probably the reason I seen it. The following morning, I met the car salesman, introduced myself, and inquired about my teenage dream car. The salesman replied, he got it at an auction, and did not know anything about it. He actually told me it was 'as is,' He did not want any problems, and honestly said.. I do not want to sale it to you. Anyway, I did not hear a single word he said, I just asked for the keys and wanted to drive it!!! My first destination was to my wife. Of course to get permission for the purchase, thinking she was going to love it like I do. I should of thought, she was born in 1979, and the car was older than her. My wife heard me in the driveway, came out, and had that look on her face as if I was a dumb-ass, as her body language said it all, with her left foot tilted to the left, both arms crossed, as she spoke in clear English language. "No, we cannot afford it." I did not hear her either, and continued on my test drive journey to my favorite mechanic I have known for at ten years. I was actually driving a Porsche 928! The car had balls. It responds to it's commands, and was something like I never experienced ever. I have been driving for at least 25 years now, actually drive for a living. I have driven across the country, drive several thousands of miles per year just on my job, but this driving experience was too much to take in just in one day. I pull the car up to my mechanics garage, and jumped out of the driver seat, with my arm leaning on the driver door, probably giving my best cop Starsky pose, smiling ear to ear, very proud. My mechanic friend said 'Get that piece of shit out of here.' I knew the car was older, it would need TLC, and my mechanic, wife, and salesman all said to me. Not a good decision. I sadly and delicately returned the car back to the dealer, and said, 'Thanks.' I returned home, and went to sleep as I had to work that evening. Anyway during my sleep time, I was wide awake, dreaming about the car, thinking about the car, rolling over to my left and right side, thinking about the car. When I went back to work, I got my coffee, and drove directly to the car lot, and sat, did reports, and glared at the car as if I was looking at my first Playboy centerfold. I could not get the 'test drive' experience out of my system. I have witnessed child birth, been in two wars, jumped out of planes, but this test drive blown everything away. Probably, and mostly, since driving this German car was something I wanted to do for decades? I think two more days past, still parked at the car lot doing my reports. I was still trying to convince my wife, I must have that car! I did do research on insurance rates, and google.com is always a good source. I read on some website, which read..."Life is not about how many breaths you take, it is about how many times it takes your breath away!" I finally called the salesman back, and told him over the telephone. Wash it! I am paying cash and I will be there later today! Did I know my mechanic thought I was stupid? Yes! Did I know my wife was going to be pissed? Yes! Do you think any of this mattered to me? No, because I was going to be a Porsche 928 owner, and my 30-year old dream was going to be a reality today! So anyway, my youngest son and I had a plan, as my seventeen year old was in the front passenger seat, and my youngest was in the backseat. We were going to drive by the car lot, and when we passed it, my youngest was going to say. "Dad, is that a Porsche for sale?" My rehearsed reply was "Where, let's check it out?" My 17 yoa, looked at me and said.. "Really," as well, hell, he is my son, he has known his entire living life his Dad loves his Fishing, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Porsche.' We pulled into the lot, and of course, it shined, as it was washed and detailed as asked, just awaiting for my arrival. I instructed my teenager to get in it, and check it out. Once he finally exits, he notices I am in the sales office buying it, and my teenager was staring at me in disbelief and his look was something like..Wow, really? Awesome! My dad is the shit! Cool man! I never seen this behavior or excitement from him ever, and I probably never gave it to him since his first base hit in Little League ten years earlier :) Priceless man...I drove it home, as my licensed teenage driver followed me. Do you think I let him drive it? Of course, it is Dad's responsibility to guide your children in the right direction. Although, a later conversation with my wife that night, she told me I taught my sons a very bad lesson today, and had to agree :(

I have put my first 200 miles on it, about three tanks of gas, mostly driving nowhere, or finding an excuse to go somewhere. My mechanic has got soft, and has actually referred me to someone where MY 928 will get an oil change, and transmission flush; and most important, my wife has tolerated my behavior so far!
