I have been stalking this 2001 Boxster on cars.com for at least six months. The opportunity just presented itself, and went for it. I brought it home on December 7, 2011 for $11.5 with 58k. It is currently parked in Cheryl's old spot, but the Guards Red is still shining on my street! I will have to report back with the story of the sale of the 928, and an update on the 986!

My friend, and fellow soldier I had previously deployed with, made this drawing for me. He told me it was not very good, but think an artist is his own worst critic. However to my eyes, his drawing of my dream car is priceless!

....so she sat in the impound lot for a month, it killed me, and affected me like putting your dog in a kennel. In the meantime, I became a e-bay toy winner! I did have a few buyers take a look, but I think I subconsciously talked them out of it by showing them the fuse box :) Welcome home! I promise not to do that again. Sorry.

Well, Import Auto owner called and told me the mechanic really did not want to work on it, as he stated it would take two months, and about 10k to fix. I called Ward back, and he picked it back up, and had taken it to his impound yard. I seen it today on September 9, 2010, and what a sad feeling to think my classic car is going to sit there and rot. The car is back on Craig's List for $2500.00

STP Stop Leak did not work :(

Well the STP Stop Leak was a last ditch effort, but it did not work, as I was still bellowing black smoke at acceleration. As you can see in the picture, my buddy Ward who owns a wrecker service was nice enough to come to the house to take her back to Import Car Service for a full head-gasket inspection, hoping it can be salvaged by sleeving or replacing.

Craig's List not working out

I have posted my 1978 on Craig's List twice now, and everytime I get swarmed with e-mails, and telephone calls, I am reminded how awesome my car is! The car is no longer listed, and has not been for almost twenty days now. WTF?! LOL. "Maybe she is just part of the family?"

Lawn Ornament

After giving the owner, Don at Superior Goodyear $120.21 dollars for a compression test, he verified cylinder #6 is shot. No further information. However, advice from my fellows owners: http://landsharkoz I have been advised, if I need a new head gasket, or the valve is burnt, the motor could be repaired. If it is a seized piston, or ring problems, it is better to replace. However, it more in likely a head gasket, as it is probably the original. Nevertheless, any repairs means the engine needs removed. Standard Labor: $100.00 and hour, and examination is a minimum of three hours. Parts: 'expensive,' replacement, and more labor to reinstall, etc. I am "officially" over my head. The 928 is currently a lawn ornament, and on Craig's List. :(

Oil Leak

This is the preliminary inspection of an oil leak at Superior Auto & Good Year Tires on US19/Little Rd. The owner, Don is going to tackle the job of fixing the oil leak. I can visibly see oil sitting in the valley, which in result is blowing back into my air filter, and exiting excessive smoke out of the exhaust pipes. The thick oil sitting throughout the filter is not allowing the engine to breath so now we are stalling at idle while stopped at the traffic light. I am dropping her off tommorow morning. The clean up and assessment will be the first task. Stay tuned, hopefully she is not beyond financial repair.

Oil Paranoia

One of the first lessons I was told from an experienced mechanic, Jesse was from an example. I was shown another Porsche 928, which was sitting in front of Import Auto. The mechanic said the car is ready to go, but the owner has to come up with the money to pick it up. The mechanic asks me a question in disbelief. Do you believe the owner had blown the cams? Well I looked at him like, no? However, I was desperately wondering how could did he do that? The mechanic said to me; Ron, do not ever let your engine just run out of oil. So I had an oil paranoia since day one, as I did not want my 928 sitting at the shop with a couple thousand dollars worth of repairs, knowing I could never pick it up. In result, this began my journey of force feeding my 928 oil on a regular basis, as it seems the V-8 will just drink and drink. Well over the weekend, I discovered what happens when you overfill too much oil. The oil overflowed into my exhaust, and I was sporting this nice black cloud directly out of my tailpipe, which in result had blown oil all over the rear-end of my car, and I could not even begin to explain the exterior clean up. Right now I have a beautiful coat of oil ever where on the undercarriage, as I know this vehicle will never rust, and may be even found thousands of years from now in a perfect non-corrosion state. Needless to say, I am over the oil paranoia, and will not put another drop of oil in her, unless the dipstick tells me too, period. My friend Dave from D&D Auto told me the oil can be cleaned up by a product called 'Grease Lighting,' sold at Sam's, so picked up a bottle thinking I am going to do a through cleaning, until I get a message from my mentor, as follows:

Well, be careful about putting water in the block valley -- i will run out and straight down into the opening where the clutch arm protrudes from the upper bellhousing, and into your clutch. I don't remember if AT cars have the opening(or whether you have MT/AT) but even on an AT car you probably don't want water in that area as it can get into the starter. For the stuff under the intake I'd say just get some 1/8" welding rod and bend a small loop in the end, stuff a rag through the loop and use that to mop up anything in the valley. Intensive cleaning down there is just about impossible with the intake in place.

I finally replaced the one I cracked. Too easy.

Also, gave her another quart of oil. A total of (3) quarts this week, so I am thinking she began with (9) quarts to fill up last January, so burning/leaking an average of a quart a month.
